On June 8, 2015, Alioui was walking near the Great Mosque of Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, when he was arrested by members of the Asayish forces. The Asayish is considered to be the Kurdish security agency and the primary intelligence agency operating in the Kurdistan region in Iraq.
Following his arrest, he was then taken to an unknown location. His current whereabouts remain unknown.

On April 20, 2006, high school student Al Abbasi was shopping for stationery and books at the Al-Tarbiya bookshop, in Baghdad, when Iraqi Army forces raided the establishment. Al Abbasi was arrested alongside an employee of the bookshop. They were both forced into a military car and driven to an unknown destination. Since that day, Al Abbasi’s fate and whereabouts remain unknown.

In November 2014, after ISIS occupied Hit district in Iraq’s Al Anbar Province, then 20-year-old Falah Al Aqili decided to leave Iraq for Istanbul, Turkey, with two other residents from Hit. On November 4, 2014, after Al Aqili arrived at Baghdad International Airport, alongside his two companions, they were stopped by a member of the airport security called Ali, just after having their passports stamped.

Ali Al Allawi is the head of a well-known football club in Baghdad’s Al Ghazaliya district. On November 2, 2017, he was arrested while travelling by car, alongside members of his team, to a football match in Al Ghazaliya. He was taken to an unknown location and has not contacted the outside world since. The individuals who arrested Al Allawi were travelling in white cars without number plates. According to witnesses, they belonged to the Directorate of Security and Discipline in the Popular Mobilisation Units (PMU).
On February 5, 2017, Aladdin Farhad was driving his car alongside some of his family members, in the Nurqal neighbourhood in Mosul, when he was stopped at a checkpoint by members of the Popular Mobilisation Units (PMU).
The members of the PMU then proceeded to arrest Farhad and confiscate his car, leaving behind the members of his family. Since then, his fate and whereabouts have remained unknown.

On March 6, 2017, Al Qaisi and his family fled Al Mansour neighbourhood in Mosul, where they normally lived, to Mosul’s Left Coast due to the ongoing clashes between the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Iraqi security forces. In order to reach Mosul’s Left Coast, they had to go through Hammam Al Alil for a security check, in order to verify that they had no affiliation with ISIL. When they reached the checkpoint in Hammam Al Alil, they were not allowed to go through and were ordered to come back the next day.
