Mokhlid Al Anzi, disappeared while delivering building materials in Iraq

On November 25, 2018, Mokhlid Al Anzi was abducted by Iraqi special operations forces who stopped his truck while he was delivering building materials to the town of Nebai in the Salaheddine Province. Authorities have yet to officially disclose his fate and current whereabouts.

On November 25, 2018, Mokhlid Al Anzi was delivering a truck of building materials to Nebai town, Salaheddine Province, when he was stopped by Iraqi special operations forces who were driving two 4x4 cars. Al Anzi’s subsequent abduction was witnessed by bystanders.

Soon thereafter, Al Anzi’s family filed a criminal complaint against persons unknown at Al Moshahda’s police station in north Baghdad. The family also made enquiries with Baghdad Operations Command, but to no avail.

On January 20, 2020, MENA Rights Group and Iraqi War Crimes Documentation Center requested the urgent intervention of the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances. Al Anzi’s fate and whereabouts remain unknown.
