On early morning of April 10, 2023, the Lebanese Intelligence forces arrested Uday Ibrahim from his home. On the same day at sunset, Uday Ibrahim was handed over to the Land Border Regiment at the Lebanese checkpoint of Masnaa in Anjar, Lebanon. After his deportation from Lebanon, he was detained in several security detention centers in Damascus. On May 27, 2023, he was brought before the Single Military Judge of Palmyra who ordered his release on condition to join the military service.
In the beginning of April 2023, the Lebanese security forces raided different neighborhoods in Lebanon and arrested Syrian refugees, who were later unlawfully deported to Syria.
On April 10, 2023 at 5 a.m., the Lebanese Intelligence forces entered Haret Sakher neighborhood, Jounieh, north Beirut and arrested 29 Syrians- including Uday Ibrahim who was arrested in his home.
On the same day, around 7 p.m., Uday Ibrahim was handed over to the Land Border Regiment of the Lebanese Army at the Lebanese checkpoint of Masnaa in Anjar, Lebanon with the intention of handing them over to Syria. Since then, no one knows about his whereabouts.
Mr. Ibrahim is suffering from seizures and epilepsy since his childhood. He must take his medication on a regular basis, and may often need to be hospitalized. His family fears for his life because of his current health situation.
On April 12, 2023, Mr. Ibrahim’s family inquired about him to the Lebanese General Security offices in Jounieh, Beirut and Baabda, but they denied detaining him in their centers.
On May 03, 2023, MENA Rights Group requested the urgent intervention of the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances (WGEID).
After Mr. Ibrahim’s deportation from Lebanon, he was detained in several security detention centers in Damascus.
On May 27, 2023, he was brought before the Single Military Judge of Palmyra who ordered his release on a condition to join the military service.
